Pumpkin Carving Tips
When it’s time to turn your pumpkin into a jack o’ lantern, keep these tips in mind:
- Don’t carve too early! Wait until about 3 to 5 days before Halloween. Once carved, pumpkins typically last only a few days before they start to soften and shrivel.
- Thin the walls. Scrape out the inside until the pumpkin walls are about 1 inch thick. This makes carving easier and helps light shine through.
- Skip the candle. Use a battery-powered LED tea light instead for a safer, kid-friendly way to give your jack-o’-lantern that spooky glow.
