Tools for School 2025: Back-to-School Help in Bucks County

Get ready for school with United Way Bucks County—donate, volunteer, or request a free backpack with supplies.

Did you know many families in Bucks County still struggle to afford basic school needs? For over a decade, United Way of Bucks County’s Stuff the Bus program helped students by providing backpacks and school supplies.

This year, the initiative has expanded and been rebranded as Tools for School, reflecting a broader mission to support students’ head-to-toe needs — from backpacks and school supplies to sneakers, hygiene kits, and even vision and hearing screenings.

Why Tools for School?

“We heard from families and educators that students need more than just school supplies,” said Marissa Christie, president and CEO at United Way of Bucks County. “Tools for School expands our support to meet the full spectrum of student needs.” This program prioritizes ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families, ensuring those working hard but still struggling have the essentials to succeed.
