Calling all golfers, sponsors, and community supporters! The 4th Annual Mikey D Memorial Golf Outing tees off Monday, September 28, 2026, at Five Ponds Golf Club in Warminster. 

Join a full day of contests, raffles, a sports memorabilia auction, and a buffet luncheon with an open bar. It’s a fun-filled way to spend a Monday on the course with friends — all while giving back.

Every dollar raised supports the Small Moments Foundation, a Greater Philadelphia nonprofit that helps grieving families find joy, connection, and relief after the loss of a loved one. Last year’s outing raised over $50,000 to help fund household support, meal assistance, and grief resources for local families. Help Small Moments do it again this year!

Fun for a Great Cause: What to Expect at This Year’s Outing

The 4th Annual Mikey D Memorial Golf Outing will take place on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Five Ponds Golf Club, 1225 W Street Road, Warminster. Registration costs $175 per golfer or $700 per foursome. Playing a round of golf makes for a fun and easy way to support the mission of the Small Moments Foundation.

Registration begins at 8:30 am with a shotgun start at 10 am. In addition to a round of golf, players enjoy these perks:

• Breakfast
• Contests
• Raffles
• Buffet luncheon with open bar
• Sports memorabilia auction
• Special guests
• And more!

Every golfer signed up by July 31st will be entered into a raffle with golf items, pro shop gift cards, and more, which will be drawn the first week of August.

How Your Registration and Sponsorship Helps Families

Last year, Small Moments raised over $50,000 from the 3rd Annual Mikey D Memorial Golf Outing and intends to do it again this year. Here’s how your contribution is actually put into play:

• One Eagle sponsorship covers:
  • Approximately two weeks of groceries
  • Six weeks of laundry services
  • The cost of the photographer who takes each family’s photos at our annual holiday event
  • Two house cleanings
  • Approximately one week of quick dinners for a busy, solo parent
    
    
• One Birdie sponsorship covers:
  • Approximately two quick dinners for a solo parent
  • Two weeks of laundry services 
  • The cost of our annual holiday photography event for families

  • A selection of age-appropriate grief books for 2-3 children

The Mission Behind Small Moments

The Small Moments Foundation was created in memory of Michael DiTore, a devoted father and remarkable husband. 

In April of 2020, just a few months after Rebecca and Mike’s second son was born (and alongside the start of COVID), Mike began experiencing an unexplainable weakness in his wrist. 

More symptoms, an MRI, an ER visit, a hospital transfer and a brain biopsy later, what was thought to be a case of Carpal Tunnel, turned out to be terminal brain cancer. 

MRIs showed two lesions in Mike’s brain called Anaplastic Astrocytomas. 

Mike’s journey with brain cancer lasted about 17 months. Rebecca found that she had an overwhelming amount of social and clinical support as she took care of her husband. 

But after the night he died, much of that support dissipated. While everyone else’s lives seemingly went back to “normal,” she found herself longing for a community — or at least one friend, who could just get it. 

Alas, Small Moments was born.

Small Moments focuses on three pillars of support: moments of joy, moments of connection, and moments of relief. When a family is nominated for support, they receive a variety of supports including:

• A joyful, family-focused, memory-making experience 
• Household support such as laundry, cleaning, and organization services
• Meal support through DoorDash, Instacart, and grocery store gift cards
• Care packages with self-care items and children’s activities
• Age appropriate children’s grief books and other grief resources
• In-person community events
• Virtual support groups
• Other as needed personalized support
  

A Year of Growth and Impact

Since its founding in 2023, Small Moments Foundation has continued to grow through meaningful partnerships. Partner organizations include For Pete’s Sake, Cancer Support Community Greater Philadelphia, and the Center for Loss and Bereavement. 

These collaborations, combined with increased community awareness and support through word of mouth, have allowed Small Moments to expand its reach and provide more comprehensive services to grieving families.

Since inception, there have been:

• 55+ children served
• $3,500+ gifted in meal support
• 28+ moments made
• 3+ annual events established
• 180k+ raised

Growing Together: What We’ve Accomplished This Year

Founder Rebecca DiTore reflects on the organization’s growth and looks ahead to the year to come.

“We’ve grown so much in just a few short years — from providing a small, local experience for families to now doing not only that, but also spending thousands in meal support, grief resources, household support, and more.”

“In Spring, we did outreach to several local schools, dropping off information on our services and donating age-appropriate grief books to elementary school counselors,” she said.

Small Moments will be partnering with many local schools this coming school year. They serve as a steady resource for a child experiencing loss. Rebecca says that one of their biggest goals this year is establishing and nurturing those academic relationships to reach more families.

“Grief is lonely. I am committed to growing this organization, and not only reaching more families, but having a deeper, more meaningful impact on their grief journeys,” said Rebecca. 

The Difference a Small Moment Can Make

Small Moments has supported families navigating profound loss, including children grieving the death of a parent and parents mourning the loss of a child. Each family’s journey is unique, but all share the need for connection, support, and moments of joy during incredibly difficult times.

A Family’s Journey: Finding Joy Again

One family — a father and his two children — experienced the death of their mother. During an incredibly difficult season, the family created new happy memories together through gifted experiences. 

They attended a Phillies playoff game and celebrated the holidays at the Phillies Ball Girl Holiday Party. During the party, the children had the opportunity to practice pitching with Cole Hamels. In addition, the family received care packages, meal support, grocery assistance through Aldi gift cards, and DoorDash gift cards to help ease everyday burdens.

Holding Onto Holiday Traditions Amid Loss

A mother and her young daughter faced the death of her husband and the child’s father just weeks before the holidays. Small Moments provided an entire Christmas morning experience, helping ensure that joy, traditions, and special memories could still exist during an extraordinarily difficult season.

“In the middle of grief and exhaustion, you gave her magic — and you gave me something steady to hold onto. Because of you and the community around this work, I don’t feel alone as I move forward in this grief. I feel supported, seen, and reminded that there is life and connection ahead, even when it looks different than I imagined.”

Stability and Support for a Family of Four

Another family with three children experienced the loss of their mother at the end of 2025. As they adjusted to life without her, Small Moments supported them in many ways. They provided weekly laundry services, assistance with college textbooks for an older child, gift cards to their preferred grocery store, meal assistance, children’s activities, and snacks for the household. These services helped reduce financial stress while providing stability during a time of profound change.

Support for Every Family’s Journey

In addition to these individualized experiences and services, every family receives resources to support their grieving process. This includes age-appropriate grief books, mindfulness activities, journals, coloring books, and children’s activities.

While each family’s needs are different, Small Moments strives to provide comfort, practical support, and meaningful tools. These help families navigate grief both in the immediate days following a loss and throughout the months and years that follow.

“Being nominated for the Small Moments Foundation has been an incredible blessing for my family. Through the events Rebecca hosts throughout the year, she creates an environment where families feel seen, supported, and truly cared for. Because of her organization, we have been able to spend meaningful time together as a family, creating memories through experiences we may not otherwise have had the opportunity to enjoy.
