It can be hard to find winter activities that the whole family can enjoy. While skiing and snowboarding are great ways to spend time together, we suggest trying out snow tubing. You can take in the mountain air, feel the rush of adrenaline, and get a thrill as you fly down the slopes! It’s fun for not only the kids, but parents too.

Here are our top 9 suggestions in the Philadelphia Area, easy enough to turn into a day trip from Bucks County!

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area

401 Hollow Road, East Stroudsburg, PA

 

Shawnee Mountain Ski Area has it all! There is something for everyone, as they have children’s programs, development programs, private lessons, group lessons, and beginner’s packages. They are hosting a “Learn A Snow Sport Day” on January 9, 2023, from 9 am to 9 pm.

Shawnee has a new fourth grade program, where fourth graders from any school will receive three free visits with a paid adult. You can register here! Show tubing tickets are ONLY sold online, and young children must be accompanied by an adult. It is not recommended for children under the age of five. They have single tubes as well as adult and child tandem tubes. They have two surface lifts to whisk you to the top! You can buy tickets here!

Blue Mountain Resort

Snow tubing at Blue Mountain is unmatched! Blue Mountain is home to the fastest and longest tubing lanes in the state. All that is required is a snow tubing ticket. Each session is sold in a 3 hour session. While there is no age requirement for snow tubing, all individuals must be 36” tall. You can get your tickets here! You can also save by going with a group. Group rates are available for 20 or more on Friday’s, and 100 or more Monday-Thursday.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort

Bear Creek has everything you could want— and more! Although, we’d argue that their snow tubing is one of their best amenities. Snow tubing sessions are held every day of the week, but the weekend has the most availability. Tickets will be available soon here! They offer single-rider tubes only, and those interested must be 6 years-old and up!

Roundtop Snow Tubing

Roundtop Snow Tubing is able to meet all your snow tubing dreams! To start off, they have 10 large tubing lanes, runs that are 800′ long and they even have a vertical drop of 80′. They also have Kiddie Tubing, which is a special area for guests 41″ tall and under. This is a great idea for smaller snow tubers! Looking to hit the Poconos for snow tubing this winter? Camelback Resort has you covered. They even have over 40 lanes that you can choose from! You can snow tube from day to night, as their lanes begin to glow at night. The snow tubing sessions are two hours long, and start every hour, on the hour. You can buy tickets here!

Montage Mountain Resort

1000 Montage Mountain Road, Scranton, PA

 

Montage Mountain is home to the White Lightning Trail, which takes the title of “2nd steepest in the East!” They have beginner, intermediate, and expert slopes, so there is a slope for everyone. Guests 32″-41″ tall can ride in single tubes in Kiddie Tubing, and guests who are 42″ or taller have access to the main tubing park. The tickets are sold on a first-come first serve basis. Monday through Thursday the sessions are four hours long, and on weekends and holidays they are two hours long. Secure your sport while you can!

Pocono Mountains

1004 W. Main Street Stroudsburg, PA

 

Looking for fast-paced snow tubing? Check out the Pocono Mountain’s White Lightning Snow Tubing! Each snow tuber must be be at least 40″ tall and over 4 years of age to snow tube. It is single riders only. The course is closed on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s.

Whitetail Resort

Whitetail Resort is home to unbelievable snow tubing for both the kids, and parents! All Snow Tubing tickets are sold on a first-come first serve basis, and they are only available online. All riders must be at least 42” tall to ride the large runs. For children, there is a “Kiddie” tubing run for those 41” tall and under.

Iron Valley Tubing

Iron Valley Tubing has incredible slopes for children and adults! For children, they must be 40″ or taller to ride on the large tube run. There is also a spot for a separate kids’ hill that has four lanes. Adults are not permitted on the children’s hill. Check back soon to purchase tickets!
