Creating Space for What Matters Most: How This Bucks County Mom’s Cleaning Service Fosters Quality Time

When back-to-school chaos threatens to overwhelm your family, Maid for You shows how the right support can transform your home—and your life.

Supply lists, new schedules, and the hunt for last year’s backpack—many Bucks County families know the drill when August arrives. But for Lisa Ciao, founder of Warminster-based Maid For You, Inc., helping families reclaim their time and peace of mind during this busy season isn’t just business—it’s personal.

“We provide more than just cleaning services,” explains Ciao, “We provide peace of mind. We provide time freedom with your family.”

Maid for You was named a Bucks County Parent 2025 LOVE Award Winner for Best Cleaning Service, thanks to nominations from local parents in our Community who love and trust them:

“I’ve known Lisa, the owner of Maid For You, for almost five years. I’ve seen this incredible organization give and give of itself. From free cleanings to cancer patients, discounts for military personnel, and support of local businesses that help individuals with disabilities. Lisa and Maid For You make a positive impact by giving back to the community and by providing quality jobs. The employees are well paid and rewarded, which is not something you always see in jobs that are service-based. I think their commitment to helping people have clean and happy homes, helping to create a community, and giving their employees work-life balance speaks to their level of integrity and quality.” – Bucks County Community Parent

From Crisis to Calling

Ciao’s journey into the cleaning industry began during one of life’s most challenging moments. As a young mother with four small children—ages seven, five-year-old twins, and a three-year old—her world turned upside down when her then-husband announced he wanted a divorce.

“I kept hearing the advice ‘Do what you love and the money will follow,'” Ciao recalls. “Two days later, the women who had been cleaning our home called to say they were moving to South Carolina and asked if I wanted to buy their business.”

While she couldn’t buy the entire operation, Ciao saw potential in starting small with just two houses. “That’s how it started,” she says. “I was 36 years old, and here I am 64 and still doing it.”

Building More Than a Business

What started out of necessity has grown into something bigger. Today, Maid For You serves families throughout Bucks and Montgomery Counties, but Ciao’s vision extends far beyond sparkling countertops and organized closets.

“We’re always thinking outside of the box,” she explains. Maid For You partners with several nonprofit organizations, including providing free cleanings to cancer patients undergoing treatment through Cleaning for a Reason, and has worked with Gilda’s Club of Greater Philadelphia and the Breathing Room Foundation.

Perhaps most meaningful to Ciao is her work with the Next Steps program, a special needs organization. “We have provided cleaning services, and we’ve worked with them to teach individuals with intellectual disabilities how to clean and care for their personal space.  We plan on future collaborations. Eventually we plan on moving toward employment of ID individuals,” she shares.

This commitment to community service stems from Ciao’s personal experience as the mother of Anthony, who has special needs. Despite doctors saying “he would never walk or talk,” Ciao refused to accept limitations. “I was like, “watch him,” she says with characteristic determination.

Her advocacy has led to writing children’s books, including “Anthony’s Way I Am Me,” and plans for a nonprofit called Anthony’s Center for Independent Adult Opportunities.

Back-to-School Success Strategies

As families gear up for the new school year, Ciao offers practical advice for maintaining harmony at home:

Start with a Clean Slate. “Before diving into new routines, clear out the old,” Ciao advises. This means donating summer items, purging outdated school supplies, and deep cleaning key areas. “Schedule a deep cleaning service to give your home a clean slate before school starts. It’s one less thing to worry about when you’re already juggling back-to-school prep.”

Create Functional Systems. Successful school years depend on organization. Ciao recommends establishing a “drop zone” near the entryway for backpacks, lunchboxes, and daily folders. “Use bins, hooks, shelves, or even a cubby system to keep everything in its place,” she suggests.

Invest in What Matters. For families thinking about professional cleaning services, Ciao explains the math: “If you think we’re expensive, imagine how expensive it would be if you hired an independent who was not bonded, licensed and insured and your jewelry went missing or they slipped and fell at your house and then they sue you.”

Professional cleaning services offer something money can’t buy: time. “During the school year, time is limited,” Ciao acknowledges. “The key to keeping your home clean is doing a little each day—and not being afraid to outsource when needed.”

The Bigger Picture

For Ciao, success isn’t measured solely in clean homes or business growth—it’s about the impact on families and community. Whether she’s providing respite for cancer patients, creating life skills training   for individuals with special needs, or simply giving busy parents more time with their children, her work creates ripple effects throughout the region.

“We service the cancer community by giving free cleanings to cancer patients undergoing treatment,” she explains. “We work with other nonprofits… We’re always thinking outside of the box.”

As families prepare for another school year, Ciao’s message is clear: focus on what matters most. “When your environment is peaceful and systems are in place, mornings feel less rushed, afternoons feel less cluttered, and evenings feel more intentional.”

In a world that often feels chaotic, especially during back-to-school season, having a clean, organized home—and the free time that comes with it—isn’t a luxury. As Lisa Ciao and her team at Maid For You demonstrate daily, it’s an investment in what truly matters: family, community, and peace of mind.
