It’s Summer Quest Time! Bucks County Free Library’s Summer Reading Program Nurtures Learning

Book it to the library for a summer full of books, badges, and big-time fun for all ages. The Bucks County Free Library’s 2025 Summer Quest theme is Color Our World, and they’re excited to share free programs and limited-edition badges with you.

Summer Quest Kick-Off Event

Saturday, June 14

Get ready to be dazzled, amazed, and inspired! From magicians to musicians to science experts, each Summer Quest Kick-Off performer will get you ready for a summer full of discovery.

  • Bensalem branch: Eyes of the Wild at 2 PM 
  • Doylestown branch: Mr. Boom Boom’s Play Patrol at 11 AM, Elmwood Park Zoo at 2 PM 
  • Langhorne branch: Petting Zoo at 11 AM 
  • Levittown branch: NJ Snake Man at 11 AM, Magician Abby London at 2 PM 
  • Perkasie branch: Magician and comedian Ran’D Shine at 11 AM 
  • Quakertown branch: Elmwood Park Zoo at 11 AM, magician and comedian Ran’D Shine at 2 PM 
  • Yardley-Makefield branch: Eyes of the Wild at 11 AM, NJ Snake Man at 2 PM 

All Summer Quest programs are free and registration is not required. Space is first come, first served. Check your branch’s calendar to see all of the special performers coming to the library this summer.

Pick Up Your Activity Log at Your Bucks County Free Library Branch

Starting June 14, visit your library to pick up your Summer Quest Activity Log. You’ll get a free book just for participating, thanks to generous donations from Holicong Middle School and patrons like you.

As you complete reading and activity challenges, bring your log back to the library to:

  • Earn raffle entries for exciting prizes
  • Collect limited-edition badges
  • Track your progress alongside your neighbors on the World Map posters displayed at each branch

Add Limited-Edition Badges to Your Collection

This year, they’ve added badges inspired by the seven continents of the world. Are you up for the journey? Check out their Badge Squad programs and complete themed Badge Challenges each week to earn your badge. Don’t miss your chance to collect all seven.

Weekly Badge Themes:

  • Week 1 (June 16): Boogie Woogie – Music of North America 
  • Week 2 (June 23): Creepy Crawlies – Insects and spiders of Australia 
  • Week 3 (June 30): Polar Vibes – Nature of Antarctica 
  • Week 4 (July 7): Safari Scout – Animal kingdom of Africa 
  • Week 5 (July 14): Sage Storyteller – History of Asia 
  • Week 6 (July 21): Spice World – Food of South America 
  • Week 7 (July 28): ¡Viva el Arte! – Art of Europe 
  • Week 8 (August 4): Catch up week – collect any badge you might have missed

Once you’ve completed your Badge Challenge for the week, bring your completed checklist to the library and claim your badge.

Teens and Adults Can Join Too

Pick up an Adult Summer Reading Challenge postcard at your branch. Fill it out with a short review of a book you’ve read and return it to be entered in our prize raffle. E-books, audiobooks, and graphic novels all count.
