Jenkinson’s Aquarium: A Hidden Gem

Don’t let the boardwalk location fool you—Jenkinson’s Aquarium offers a comprehensive marine education experience. The aquarium’s diverse exhibits span multiple ecosystems. Marine displays feature Atlantic sharks, coral reef environments, and local fish species, while the Rainforest area houses parrots and monkeys. The Pine Barrens section showcases regional wildlife including turtles, frogs, and even an owl. Interactive touch tanks allow children hands-on encounters with sea stars and stingrays, and the harbor seals and African penguins remain visitor favorites.
The penguin exhibit stands out as a must-see, featuring an innovative identification system where each penguin wears color-coded bracelets corresponding to name and age information displayed on nearby screens—a detail that consistently captivates young visitors. Preview them on the Jenkinson’s Aquarium Penguin Cam!
The Amusement Park: Perfectly Sized for Families

Jenkinson’s Amusement Park offers more than two dozen rides ranging from family favorites like carousels to roller coasters for thrill-seekers. The majority of rides cater to young children—exactly what busy parents need. Opening and closing times vary depending on weather and crowds, so check the ride schedule and park hours here.
The two-level Adventure Lookout Ropes Course features 25 elements including zip-lines and a 36-foot peak with stunning ocean views. A separate Sky Tykes course accommodates children under 48 inches, while kids 42-48 inches can tackle the main course with an adult companion.
The park uses a convenient cashless card system with reusable wristbands. Rides run longer than typical boardwalk attractions. Arrive when the park opens at noon to avoid lines.
Arcades and Mini Golf

Four arcades offer video games and classic attractions, perfect for sun breaks or rainy weather. Two themed mini golf courses—Castaway Cove’s shipwreck adventures and Lighthouse Point’s scenic challenges—feature caves, waterfalls, and aerial views.
