Historic Newtown Market Day
For nearly 50 years, the streets around the historic Half-Moon Inn at Court Street and Centre Avenue have come alive with a free, family-friendly event that transports visitors back to colonial America. Featuring around 80 artisans and craftspeople selling their handmade goods, Market Day offers an immersive experience that celebrates Newtown’s early history.
Visitors can enjoy live music, delicious food, and a variety of colonial-themed activities such as historic reenactments, puppet shows, candle making, hayrides, and craft demonstrations. The event honors the colonial tradition of local farmers and homesteaders bringing their crops, livestock, and homemade goods into town to sell, while evolving over time to showcase talented artists, crafters, entertainment, and food for the whole community to enjoy.
