From Classroom to Community: Sarah Peters’ Journey of Service and Success

When a former history teacher's business hits $50 million in annual sales while raising over $20,000 for cancer patients, you know there's a story worth telling.

Sarah Peters has mastered the art of building something meaningful from the ground up. As the leader of a thriving real estate team at eXp Realty LLC that’s tracking toward $50 million in sales this year, she’s also the force behind Bucks County’s most impactful women’s networking event for Kin Wellness and Support Center and a dedicated volunteer who’s teaching her teenage daughters that success means lifting others as you climb.

A Teacher’s Bold Leap

Sarah’s path to real estate wasn’t mapped out in any career plan. For 15 years, she taught American history, but the logistics of getting three young children ready each morning while commuting to teach in another town became unmanageable. The lack of flexibility to be present for her kids’ school activities weighed on her daily.

“My husband and I were both teachers, and the schedule was too challenging,” Sarah recalls. “I had no flexibility to be present for my kids in the ways I wanted to be.”

The transition demanded everything she had. While teaching during the day and parenting through the evening, Sarah studied real estate from 8 PM to midnight. With children ages 6, 4, and 1, rest was a luxury she couldn’t afford.

Her husband’s daily encouragement became her anchor during those grueling months: “You just have to sell one house.” That simple phrase, repeated each morning, reminded her that success could start small and build from there.

“This experience instilled in me the mindset of consistently taking ‘one more step’ or ‘one extra’ effort to achieve goals,” Sarah explains. “It’s something I apply to both my professional work and how I inspire my children.”

Building an Empire, One House at a Time

That first house led to four more in year one. Then 24 the next year. Soon it was 40 houses annually. Today, Sarah leads a team of five full-time realtors, a full-time director of operations who recently obtained her real estate license, and two part-time assistants.

“I’m so proud of our team,” Sarah says. “The growth has been exciting, especially given all the challenges in the real estate industry right now.”

But rapid success came with unexpected costs. As her business exploded, Sarah found herself booking eight to ten appointments daily, saying yes to everyone, and gradually losing herself in the process.

The breaking point came when she started forgetting things and feeling frustrated with her own patience and performance. “I was seeing less and less of my kids, my husband, and my friends,” she admits. “There were signs I was burning out.”

She took a full week off work—something that felt impossible but proved essential. During that time, she rediscovered simple pleasures and remembered who she was beyond her business card.

“I learned the importance of self-care, taking time for personal space, and establishing boundaries,” she reflects. “Interestingly, this also empowered my team to take on more responsibilities.”

When Personal Loss Becomes Purpose

The thread connecting Sarah’s community work traces back to her father’s death from Hodgkin’s disease. Diagnosed when Sarah was 17, he fought for seven years before passing away when she was 24.

“Those were truly my formative years,” Sarah says. “It gave me deep compassion for anyone struggling with obstacles, but cancer left a lasting impression.”

When Keith Fenimore from Kin Wellness & Support Center approached her in July 2023 about monetizing a generous venue donation from Peddler’s Village, Sarah immediately said yes. Within six weeks, she had organized the first-ever Bucks County Women in Business Summit.

“The rapid organization was intense, but seeing all those like-minded women with big hearts gather to support our local community—that collective spirit was my biggest ‘pinch me moment,'” Sarah recalls.

The October 2023 event hosted 100 women and raised nearly $9,700. The 2024 summit brought the total to over $20,000 for Kin Wellness & Support Center.

Creating Something Special

This year’s Bucks County Women in Business Summit, scheduled for October 9th at the Black Bass Inn, will be more intimate with just 75 attendees. The keynote speaker is Megan Weish, mindset and business coach and author of “The Selfish Hour”—a choice that aligns perfectly with Sarah’s belief that self-care enables better support of others.

The event represents something larger than networking. Keith Fenimore is developing plans for a for-profit health and wellness center with luxurious amenities like a swimming pool and juice bar, designed to fund the nonprofit Kin indefinitely through subscriptions and donations.

“It’s about creating sustainable impact,” Sarah explains. “We’re building something that will support cancer patients and their families for years to come.”

Raising the Next Generation

Sarah’s commitment to service extends to her daughters, now 14.5 and 12.5, who participate in National Charity League alongside her. This mother-daughter philanthropy continues a family tradition that Sarah believes is essential for raising grounded children.

“It’s about fostering kindness and empathy,” she says. “I want them to understand that success means contributing to something bigger than yourself.”

The girls often accompany Sarah to events, learning firsthand how business success and community service reinforce each other.

Looking Forward

Sarah’s approach to both business and community work centers on consistent action and genuine connection. Whether she’s helping clients find their perfect home, organizing events that raise thousands for cancer support, or teaching her daughters about service, the thread remains the same: show up, take one more step, and lift others as you climb.

“I love connecting people to causes and communities where they belong,” Sarah reflects. “That might be the most valuable service of all.”

As the 2025 Women in Business Summit approaches and her real estate team continues breaking records, Sarah Peters proves that the most meaningful success stories aren’t just about personal achievement—they’re about using your platform to create positive change that ripples through your entire community.

For a former history teacher who once worried about selling just one house, Sarah has built something far more valuable than a business empire. She’s created a legacy of service that her daughters will carry forward and a model for how professional success and community impact can grow together.
